BSF 7 Up panel
The Transforming Learning in Walsall Programme has established small panels of young people to support the Building Schools for the Future programme.
Pupils from Joseph Leckie Community Technology College toured every inch of their school taking photographs of what's hot - or not - to help shape plans.
Officers from Walsall Council want to make sure young people are involved in the project throughout and so have set up these special panels in each BSF school involving pupils from year 7 and local primary schools.
The BSF 7-Up panels will be consulted every step of the way in the programme, from the initial design stage through to construction stage, with the first of the redesigned schools due to open in 2014.
Consultation will be undertaken with wider groups of young people but the 7 up group will be taken through the whole Building Schools for the Future journey from start to finish.
Pictures and the views from the BSF 7 Up groups will be recorded on this website and will provide a pictorial journey for the programme.
Cabinet member for children's services Cllr Rachel Walker said: "It is crucial young people are involved in what is a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform learning. We want to hear what they have to say about their environments and we will take their ideas and suggestions on board."
